What JEECUP rank do you need for BIPE 4455? Real closing ranks for 2024-25 and 2025-26

Two years of actual BIPE admission data — 342 rows from the JEECUP rank lists for 2024-25 and 2025-26, broken down by branch. Closing ranks for Group A (regular post-10th) sit comfortably in the 100,000–170,000 band; Group K (lateral entry) tightens to 1,000–7,500. What that means for your choice filling.

TL;DR · Where your JEECUP rank lands you
  • Group A (regular, post-Class 10) closing ranks at BIPE 4455 in 2025-26 ranged from 147,826 (Dairy Engineering) to 168,929 (Computer Science).
  • Group K (lateral entry, post-Class 12 PCM or B.Sc / ITI) closing ranks were much tighter — 1,757 for Civil, 5,492 for Mech Production, 7,506 for Electrical.
  • If your Group A rank is under 130,000, you have a comfortable margin on every branch we offer. Under 50,000 means you have your pick of branches.
  • If your Group K rank is under 5,000, BIPE lateral-entry seats are realistic across all four branches.

All numbers below are from BIPE's Student Admission Rank Lists as filed with JEECUP — actual admitted students for 2024-25 and 2025-26 cycles. No projections, no marketing math.

How JEECUP counselling actually works

JEECUP (the UP Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnic, conducted by the Joint Entrance Examination Council (Polytechnic), Uttar Pradesh) runs five counselling rounds after the entrance exam — Rounds 1 through 4 in the main cycle, plus a spot-round for unfilled seats. In each round you fill choices (which institute + branch combinations you're willing to accept), and the system allocates seats to you in priority order based on your rank.

Closing rank = the last (highest) rank that successfully secured a seat in that branch at that institute in that year. If your rank is at or better than the closing rank, you would have got the seat under the same competition. If your rank is worse, the seat would have gone to someone with a better rank ahead of you.

BIPE's JEECUP institute code is 4455 — this is the four-digit handle you'll select when filling choices. The institute name on the portal reads "Banaras Institute of Polytechnic & Engineering, Phoolpur, Varanasi".

Group A · Regular admissions (post-Class 10)

Group A is the main JEECUP track — you take the entrance after Class 10 (or 12), get a rank in Group A, and use that rank during counselling to apply to diploma engineering programmes. This is how most BIPE students arrive.

Reading the table

The closing-rank ceiling has been generous. In 2025-26, even the most competitive of our branches (Computer Science) closed at rank 168,929. Roughly speaking: if your Group A rank is anywhere under 130,000, you have a real chance at every branch we offer. Under 100,000, you have margin even in late counselling rounds. Under 50,000, you have your pick of branches and can choose by interest rather than by rank constraint.

Why the numbers grew between 2024-25 and 2025-26: JEECUP rank inflation tracks the number of test-takers. UP's polytechnic exam pool has grown year over year; absolute ranks have moved with it.

Dairy Engineering (BTEUP 123) appears in 2025-26 with 5 admissions at a closing rank of 147,826. This is the first cohort at BIPE — and one of only four BTEUP-affiliated dairy diploma programmes across all of Uttar Pradesh. More on the branch →

Mechanical Automobile (BTEUP 112) appears in 2024-25 with 11 admissions and is empty in 2025-26 — the slot was phased out in favour of an expanded Mechanical (Production) cohort, which grew from 30 to 33 in the same period.

Group K · Lateral entry (post-Class 12 / ITI / B.Sc PCM)

Group K is the lateral-entry track. If you've already finished Class 12 with PCM, or have an ITI / B.Sc background, you can enter the diploma programme directly in the second year — skipping the first year — by ranking in Group K. The seats are fewer (Group K admissions to diploma are capped at a small fraction of total seats per branch), so the rank competition is much tighter than Group A.

Why the lateral-entry numbers look so different
Lateral entry is a competitive shortcut — you skip a full year of the diploma and join in Year 2. Across UP, only a small percentage of diploma seats are reserved for lateral entry, which means the rank cut-off compresses. If your Group K rank is under 5,000 you're in real contention at BIPE across most branches; under 2,000 and you have flexibility.

What if your rank is above the closing rank?

Closing ranks are last-round, last-seat snapshots. A few realistic options if your rank is just above the closing for a particular branch:

  • Choose a branch that closed earlier. Branches at BIPE 4455 close in roughly this order: CSE first, then Mech Production, then Electrical, Civil, Dairy. If your rank doesn't make CSE, try Electrical or Civil first.
  • Use later counselling rounds. Rank-holders who confirmed in Round 1 sometimes upgrade or drop in Round 2/3; seats reopen. The spot round picks up the rest.
  • Treat lateral entry as a Plan B. If you complete Class 12 with PCM and the rank gap is wide, lateral entry into Year 2 the following year is a real route — used by many BIPE alumni.
  • Talk to admissions directly. Counselling rules occasionally allow institute-level choices outside the central allotment. The team at +91-9198646464 or admissions@bipevns.org can walk you through what's possible given your specific rank and branch preferences.

What if your rank is way below the closing rank?

Lower rank = better outcomes (in JEECUP, rank 1 is the top). If your Group A rank is under 50,000 you can choose by interest — and that interest matters more than people admit. The branch you actually like will determine whether you finish the diploma and use it well, more than its perceived prestige. Three honest considerations:

  • Eastern UP recruitment. Recruiters who hire at BIPE (Mahindra, Tata Steel, BEL, Indian Railways, UPPCL, JBM, Motherson, Amul) hire across branches. Your branch matters less than your performance and your willingness to relocate.
  • Rural campus, low fee. BIPE is AFRC-approved at ₹30,150/year. That's substantially lower than urban polytechnics with similar approvals — and the campus is six acres in Phoolpur with on-campus hostel for boys.
  • Dairy is genuinely rare. If you're considering Dairy Engineering and have a good rank, this is a strategic choice — only four institutes in UP offer it, and recruiter pipelines (Amul, Mother Dairy, Parag, Nestlé, NDDB) are real and largely uncrowded.

How to fill choices to maximise your BIPE 4455 chances

Choice filling in JEECUP isn't a guess — there's a small, learnable strategy. The choice list you submit is processed top-to-bottom: the system gives you the highest-ranked choice you qualify for. So the order matters.

  1. Put your preferred branch at BIPE 4455 first. If you most want Mechanical Production at BIPE, BIPE-Production should be choice #1 — even if other institutes for Production might "have higher placements on paper."
  2. Then your second-preference branch at BIPE as choice #2 — same institute, different branch as a fallback. Most candidates skip this and end up at a different institute when they would have happily taken a different BIPE branch.
  3. Then BIPE for every branch you'd accept in descending order of preference. This locks BIPE as your institute as long as ANY seat in ANY of your acceptable branches is open.
  4. Only after exhausting BIPE should you list other institutes. Don't interleave — every other-institute choice you put before another BIPE choice is a vote against staying at BIPE.
Honest counsel from admissions
We've watched families fill choices brilliantly and badly for sixteen years. The single most common mistake: interleaving institutes by perceived "prestige" rather than committing to one institute and listing all its branches first. If you genuinely want BIPE, list every BIPE branch (in your preference order) before listing any other institute. If you don't, you'll occasionally end up at a more distant or more expensive institute when BIPE had a seat open in a branch you'd have been happy with.
